Wilder Street Community Garden
San Francisco, CA
Plural is working pro-bono with Glen Park community organizers and BART to transform a 3,000 sf vacant lot on Wilder Street into a new community garden for the neighborhood. Working with the organizers, we prepared a concept design and renderings to build community support for the project and help BART to visualize the project. The design is intended to be low-cost and installed with community volunteer labor. The serpentine path organizes the garden, allowing for universal access to each bed along the sloping site. We used prefabricated planter boxes for an economical retaining system that step down with the slope of the site. The heart of the design is a large farm table and trellis for prepping, gathering, and dining.
